Sándor Kereki returned to his photographs during the pandemic, while in quarantine. The photos were not only found inside the house, but luckily for us, they also found their way out. Unfortunately, organizing the pictures also had its victims: the contact sheets, the direct copies of the negatives, were simply thrown out by the artis. This makes it difficult to retrace the links between photographs; it is not apparent if frames were from the same roll, and thus had been taken at roughly the same time, which would be a crucial clue in dating images.
Forty or fifty years later, it is difficult to accurately recall the details of a shot; for the overwhelming majority of the 7,000 pictures, it was not even possible to determine what year they had been made. There are places, streets, and squares that Sándor Kereki easily recognizes, also he can confidently recall some of the people captured in the photographs. We have decided to only include information the author was sure of. The photographs whose year of creation could not be given by the artist himself, are in a separate block, in the end of the image gallery.
